Let them eat cake

Well, the wedding posts continue...kinda.

I've started making cake toppers.  They are cute little pennant banner style cake toppers and it all started because of a request for one to used in a wedding.  Well, I have sold a handful so I thought "why not make it a permanent item in my shop".

But then I started thinking about a good friend of mine who is expecting her first baby {my hubby and I are making the long drive up to Chicago this Memorial Day weekend for her baby shower}.  And that made me think about baby showers, and bridal showers and well almost every other kind of celebration.

I decided some banner making and staging was in order.

I'm sorta in love with this "Be Mine" I only have to wait until next Feb. to use it!

This one will be for my daughter's birthday.

I may have gone overboard...I have a tendency to do that.  Oh, well.

I hope you all have a great Memorial Day weekend and hopefully all this bad weather stays away!

Who doesn't love weddings?

I don't know what it is lately but when creating "stuff" I keep coming back to weddings.
maybe it was that dang royal wedding that planted the seed?!

I mean, who doesn't like a wedding but come one...never before have I sat down to get all creative and churn out some goodies and had a white dress, centerpieces and a group of people doing the Chicken Dance pop into my head.  It's a little concerning.  But, for right now I'm just rolling with is almost wedding season after all so maybe it will pay off.

So here is what I've been up to in my Etsy Shop:

favor baskets to hold votives, flower petal, candies, etc.

chalkboards for table numbers/ menu boards/ dessert bar signs, etc.

romantic clothes pins for well wishes tree, to clip on place settings, to clip onto favors

Mini chalkboard framed tags for place settings, favors, etc.

The funny thing is I don't have a single wedding to go to this Spring/Summer.  My sister in law is getting married, but that's not until October.  Oh well...I'll just have to live vicariously.

Have a wonderful week.

I hope you all had a lovely Mother's Day weekend and got to enjoy the good weather and spend some time with your loved ones!

I will trying to restock my Mudpies & Marigolds Etsy shop following a large wholesale order last week.

I'm sucking it up and listing my Vintage shabby chic French picnic basket that I love so much.  If you remember way back when I made it I said I was going to sell it, then I just couldn't bring myself to do it.  But now I have a new basket to redo so I'm passing this one along.

I also listed my Farmhouse chic birdhouse planter

A pair of Aqua Candle Sticks

Pair of aqua candle sticks

A pair of White shabby chic candle wall sconces

pair of shabby chic white candle wall sconces

and one of my little Burlap and bird book page wreath.

I have so much more to list but I will be doing it slowly over the next couple of weeks.  I'm trying really hard not to burn myself out or neglect the other responsibilities I have as a stay-at-home's been hard, but I'll figure it out.

I hope you all have a great day!

Mother's Day

It's Mother's Day weekend and me and my little Punky Brewster are headed to see my Momma tomorrow and spend some quality time.  I will be taking the Mother's Day presents I made for her with me of course.

I was going to make my Momma a breast cancer ribbon book page wreath {she is a breast cancer survivor and I'm so proud of her} but it somehow morphed into this:

It's a book page wreath with two "tiers".  The center features a white coffee filter with a pink crepe paper flower with a vintage button center.

I think this is a little more "Mother's Day" looking than what I had originally planned.  I think I will save the Breast Cancer ribbon wreath for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

She also mentioned that she like my altered peat pot bird's nest.  I sold 11 of them from my Etsy shop yesterday, but luckily I set one aside last week for her.

To all of you mothers out there, I wish you a very happy Mother's Day!  For everyone else, make sure you spoil the mothers in your life rotten this weekend!  :)  Are you reading this honey?!  Hmm, probably not.

Here we go again...with AQUA!

When it comes to my decoration/crafting addiction, I have the attention span of a gnat I tell ya'.  Sometimes I get grand ideas and never even start on them, I imagine a change in a room and only accomplish half of what I had planned and sometimes I get temporarily "hooked" on things.

You've seen the evidence here on my blog.  My bird phase, my burlap EVERYTHING phase, my altered peat pot phase and aqua phase.

I didn't even realize it until tonight when I was uploading some picture of my recent creations to a possible wholesale buyer.  And there it was, along side my burlap, lace and vintage...AQUA.

Can anyone tell me: Why, oh WHY does blogger insist on doing this to my pictures!

Maybe it's the time of year?  Maybe it's just because it is such a lovely shade?  Whatever the reason it has me thinking about the ocean and how I'm located nowhere near one.  *sigh*  I know, I feel real sorry for me don't you.

Tomorrow I will be sharing my MOTHER'S DAY present I've made for my mom.  Mom, if your reading this, do NOT read my blog tomorrow!  :)

Have a great night!

AMAZING birdhouses!

I have something to share with you Dad!  Some of you may already know that my Dad is an amazing artist.  His artwork comes in the form of beautiful birdhouses.  He has been making them for more than 20 years and he and my mom used to do several craft shows a year back in the day and he did VERY well.  He stopped selling for few years to take a break but he never stopped making birdhouses.

Well, he's back and ready to sell again but doesn't really want to do the craft show circuit anymore so I got him set up on Etsy over Easter and yesterday we loaded up his first handful of items.  Here is the link to his shop, Okaw Valley Birdhouses.

HE'S ALREADY MADE A SALE!!  I think he's going to be just fine.  He will be slowly filling his shop over the next couple of weeks.

Here are just some of his creations:
